Renting a villa or staying at beautiful small hotels (or even a hotel boat) in Hanko are the best ways to visit SeaHorse Week and other events the city provides during the summer. Hanko is the Hamptons of Finland!
SeaHorse Week is an annual show jumping competition organised in the end of July, in Hanko (beautiful port town on the south coast of Finland). The jumping classes go from junior ( 60 cm ) fences to sponsor grand prix (150 cm) races, from Monday till Sunday where the famous riders are competing against each other to collect the top places, prizes, and international ranking points. Junior classes have always been one focal point because SeaHorse Week wants to support the younger riders and provide them much needed competition experience for the future.
The idea behind SeaHorse Week was to organize a nationally recognizable jumping competition by the sea, in a gorgeous park environment, in the center of the city. The Finland Riding Association and Hankoniemi Riders were inspired by the annual La Baule in France and Falsterbo in Sweden, which are also internationally famous show jumping competitions and are located in similar by the sea type of areas.
